NCIA Cannabis Business Summit & Expo to Feature ‘Play by the Book’ Workshops

The cannabis industry is not for the faint of heart. Propelled by tailwinds of liberalization but facing a headwind from the feds, today’s cannabis enterprises can find themselves unsure of which course to chart. The National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA) has their backs, however. At its 6th Annual Cannabis Business Summit & Expo, to be held July 22-24 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California, workshops on regulatory issues will provide informative counsel on compliance.
The schedule for the event includes a pre-conference workshop focused on ‘Best Practices for Starting an Indoor Grow Facility’, which will be complemented with off-site tours to gain a hands-on look at how it’s done. With its return to San Jose, Cannabis Business Summit & Expo is celebrating six years of cultivating the legal cannabis ecosystem and promoting best practices. With over 10,000 expected to attend, the event will also offer a wealth of networking opportunities.
The compliance workshop ‘Best Practices for Starting an Indoor Grow Facility’ will be an all-day affair held in the largest indoor grow facility in California. It will be led by Jacob Policzer, co-founder and director of science and strategy at the Cannabis Conservancy, and it will begin with an overview of the build-out process and growing methodologies. Attendees will be assigned to three groups for smaller interactive sessions. The first session will provide preliminary insight into sustainability and compliance principles, as well as how to handle audits. The second will include a guided sustainability audit walk that examines the facility’s use of resources.
A broad evaluation of a facility’s adherence to regulations will be the focus, including compliance with those issued by the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The workshop will conclude with a Q&A session involving the entire group.
Cannabis Business Summit & Expo is being hosted by NCIA, the largest cannabis trade association in the U.S. and the only organization representing state-sanctioned cannabis-related businesses at the federal level. Representing nearly 2,000 member-businesses and tens of thousands of cannabis professionals, NCIA is leading the charge to protect legal cannabis businesses, defend state laws and advance federal policy reforms.
Apart from its undoubted educational value, the conference will also offer a unique opportunity to build and boost business relationships. NCIA’s 6th Annual Cannabis Business Summit & Expo is an event that no one in the cannabis space should miss.
