The North American Bitcoin Conference Returns as ‘Halvening’ Hovers Over Market

With seismic changes due to shake the crypto market in the near future, taking the pulse of the industry is more important than ever, which is exactly what industry participants can do at The North American Bitcoin Conference (TNABC). Next week, on January 15-17, 2020, TNABC returns to the James L. Knight Center in downtown Miami.
The conference, hosted by well-known event producer Keynote, is the seventh in a series of forums that have been promoting collaboration and community in the crypto space every year since 2014. The event’s richly packed agenda features a wide range of insightful discussion and invaluable demos, as well as essential updates on the latest cryptocurrency and blockchain trends and developments.
One development that’s likely to be on the minds of attendees is the looming bitcoin earthquake. Sometime in late spring, the bitcoin network will reduce the reward miners receive for verifying and adding a block. Miners currently get 12.5 bitcoin (about $93,000 at the January 5, 2019, price) for every block they add, but that amount is scheduled to fall to 6.25 bitcoin – a full 50% drop. This reduction, called bitcoin halving (or ‘halvening’), occurs automatically every 210,000 blocks (http://nnw.fm/OKk7w). The last halving occurred in July 2016, before which time the reward was 25 bitcoin per block.
Remaining tickets for this event are available at www.BTCMiami.com/Tickets. Payment will be accepted in both fiat and cryptocurrency.
Of course, participants are sure to find much more at The North American Bitcoin Conference. The fast-paced agenda will span a diverse range of topics. For example, one panel, moderated by Jenna Pilgrim and discussing integrating crypto assets into the financial system, will feature Colleen Sullivan, James Putra, Simon Dixon and Raghav Chawla. Pilgrim is director of partnerships and business development at Bloq, as well as co-founder of Streambed Media, which is building a blockchain-based solution for internet content. Sullivan heads the crypto asset trading and blockchain technology investment unit of CMT Group. Putra is head of product strategy at TradeStation, and Dixon is an award-winning author, CEO and co-founder of BnkToTheFuture. Chawla is the director of product management at Fidelity Investments.
In addition to TNABC’s packed schedule, conference attendees will find ample opportunities for networking. A launch event will be held on Wednesday, January 15, at the Clevelander on South Beach, starting at 7:00 p.m. On Thursday, January 16, attendees will be invited for drinks at the Wharf on North River Drive.
